Crystal Waterproofing Renovations

Whole property

Property renovation

We renovate properties as well as the ground beneath them. The difference between us and a general builder is what happens when the work reaches below ground level — because that is where we started, and it is the part most renovation projects get wrong.

Where the two trades meet

Plenty of renovations run beautifully until they touch the lower ground floor, at which point damp that was previously somebody's vague concern becomes the critical path. Handled early it is a designed element; discovered late it holds up every trade behind it.

Because we survey and design waterproofing ourselves, we know at the outset whether the lower ground floor is a straightforward refurbishment or a structural waterproofing job wearing a decorator's clothes.

How we work

The same approach as our basement work: our own teams, a written scope, clear communication, and one point of responsibility from first visit to handover. We would rather tell you at survey that a job is bigger than you hoped than discover it together halfway through.

Systems and materials

What we install, and why that one.

We specify Wykamol systems for this work. Every product below carries its own datasheet and, where it exists, a BBA certificate — read them rather than taking our word for it.

Wykamol Renovation Plaster

A salt-resistant renovation plaster for walls that have carried damp for decades. Ordinary gypsum plaster over a hygroscopic wall pulls salts to the surface and blows within a couple of winters, which is why so many "damp problems" reappear after a decorator has been in. This is the finish that stops that happening once the waterproofing behind it is right.

  • Salt resistant
  • BBA certified (2025)
  • Over treated masonry

Common questions

What people ask us about property renovation.

Do you take on whole-house renovations?

Yes, and we are a natural fit where the property has a cellar, a lower ground floor, or any history of damp — that is the part of the job we are specialists in. For a renovation with no below-ground element at all, a general contractor may serve you just as well, and we will say so.

Can you fix damp found during a renovation?

Yes, and the first thing we do is establish what the damp actually is. Rising damp, lateral seepage through a retaining wall, a failed historic tanking system and condensation all look similar on a wall and need entirely different work. Treating the wrong one is how damp comes back.
